The boreal forest covers 20% of North America and encompasses 1.5 million square miles in Canada.  Black spruce are the most dominant tree in the boreal forest.  For decades we have cut a Christmas tree from black spruce that grow along the road allowances where we live.  These trees are ground down every few years in order to keep the ditches clean and stop them from growing into the above power lines.  Today I went and cut a tree there.  We will decorate it on Sunday morning…

…but the real highlight was stopping by three households of friends on the way back home in order to simply visit and give them a gift of haskap jam and to express my appreciation and love for them, wishing them a Merry Christmas.  I have loved them all for decades.  It was a really rich time to celebrate our lives and our love for God in the person of Jesus Christ.  Life had changed dramatically during our lifetimes.  They were so grateful that I stopped by, but I was moreso.  Friends.
