Shearing, Carding, Spinning, Dyeing, And Weaving

Tamar was teaching herself how to make natural dyes using what she collected from the gardens around the house – lichens, horsetail, goldenrod, wild grape leaves, dahlias, and marigolds.  She had three sheep, which Martha and Hilarie leaned how to shear, and Tamar carded and spun the wool, dyed it with the vegetable dyes she had prepared, and then set up the Leclerc loom to weave a plaid blanket.
