Haskap Harvest

Yesterday was the first of two work days to harvest haskap that will go exclusively to feed those for free who have less access to the necessities of life.  Bushes are beaten to lodge the berries…debris is removed through forced air…spread onto screens the fruit is washed and cleaned by a crew outdoors in the sun…where the berries are briefly dried…and then packaged and frozen…our next picking is in a few days…the volunteers are all eager to do this work of feeding the hungry with this exceptional fruit…

…for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.
